Did you know?
Why is the annual Dutton Fun Day run called the Craig Storle Memorial Run?
The Craig Storle Memorial Run is a cherished tradition that launches Dutton Fun Day with movement, memories, and meaning.
The run honors the life and legacy of Craig Storle—a beloved husband, father, coach, teacher, and community leader whose energy and kindness left a lasting impression on Dutton and beyond. Craig was a 1975 graduate of Dutton High School and a proud Montana State University alumnus. He returned to his hometown to raise a family and invest in the next generation, working as a teacher and coach with a deep passion for education, athletics, and the outdoors.
Craig was a devoted husband to Amy and a proud father to Carissa, Seth, and Austin. He was known for his humor, generous spirit, and genuine care for those around him. As an avid runner, Craig believed in the value of fitness, perseverance, and getting outside—often encouraging others to join him on runs, hikes, and community adventures.
In November 2009, Craig passed away unexpectedly while on a hunting trip with his sons. His passing was a heartbreaking loss that deeply affected the Dutton community.
To honor his memory, the Fun Run was renamed the Craig Storle Memorial Run and became a central part of Dutton Fun Day—an event Craig cherished. For many years, the Storle family organized the run, welcoming participants with warmth and dedication. After a brief pause in 2022, the run returned in 2023 at the request of Craig’s son, Austin, with Dora stepping in to help coordinate and carry the tradition forward.
Today, the Craig Storle Memorial Run continues each July as a celebration of community, connection, and Craig’s enduring legacy. Whether you're walking, jogging, or racing to the finish line, each step honors a man who ran through life with heart, humor, and purpose.
